How much weight can I put on the platform?
While each Atticraft panel can hold 250 lbs., you should never put this amount of weight on any one panel unless you are stepping on it momentarily while accessing the platform. Do not concentrate any amount of heavy weight on any edge of an Atticraft panel. Weight should be distributed as equally as possible. Total weight should never exceed the capacity of the truss system. Capacities of truss systems vary as different home builders use different systems. We do not recommend anyone use his/her system for anything but light storage of items such as empty luggage, fishing poles, Christmas trees, etc. IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF THE STRUCTURAL CAPACITY OF YOUR TRUSS SYSTEM, CONSULT A LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER.

Can I use my Atticraft platform as a floor?
No. Atticraft is meant for light storage only. It is not to be used as a floor.

I have blown-in insulation that is several inches above my joist work.
Since Atticraft acts as an insulator, it is okay to brush away a small area to make room for the platform.

Can I compress or remove my pink insulation to make room for the panels?
While Atticraft is an elevated system, some attics may have extremely thick insulation. Atticraft acts as an insulator and it is okay to slightly compress or remove a small area to make room for the platform.

There is a small gap between the panels, is that okay?
Yes. It is okay to leave a small space.

The clip feels tight going into the groove.
If the fit is too snug, try tapping the clip in with a rubber mallet or gently with a hammer. You can also flip the clip inserting the screw side in first or rub bar soap on the groove and the clip.

The clip does not fit over my joist.
Measure the width of your joist. If it is significantly greater than 1.5 inches wide, you may have a nonstandard joist size. If this is the case you will need to return the kit as it will not fit.

I want to configure my panels different than the standard continuous line layout. Can I do that?
Yes, you will need additional clips. Contact us to order more.
